5th International Danube tourism conference in Krems

"The Danube - Smooth Flowing" was the theme of the 5th International Danube Tourism Conference which was held in Krems-Stein, Lower Austria, December 3rd-6th, 2014. Joining forces to organize the event were the Lower Austrian Tourist Board, Lower Austrian Danube Tourism (Donau Niederösterreich Tourismus GmbH), and Danube Tourist Commission.

As one of the main sponsors of the event the Danube Ship Stations GmbH invited the conference participants to an atmospheric Wachau evening. After the reception with Hot Shots and chestnuts in front of the restaurant "wellenspiel", the guests enjoyed a stylish cruise aboard the MS Austria accompanied with music from the "Tanzgeiger". After being welcomed by Bernhard Schröder (Donau Niederösterreich Tourismus), Barbara Brandner (BRANDNER cruises) and Birgit Brandner Wallner (Danube Ship Stations) the "wine godmother" was selected.

In the old monastery cellar in Dürnstein Mrs. Conny Heim from FleetPro then babtized the "Grüner Veltliner" from the winery Mittelbach the name "tongues of angels" together with pastor Vlaminck from Dürnstein. Afterwards the guestes enjoyed traditional Wachau dishes and euphonious music by the "Tanzgeiger".

The evening proved to be a wonderful prelude to a truly successful conference.

For the fifth time the most important inland water conference in Europe took place this year - the first time in Krems / Lower Austria. Over 150 professional participants from all over Europe discussed for three days the questions of how successful development and long-term sustainable protection of tourism at the Danube should look like.
