DonauStationen brings floating Advent market to Dürnstein
For the first time, a floating Advent market will be held in Dürnstein on four weekends (21–23 Nov, 28–29 Nov, 5–8 Dec, and 12–14 Dec) — a novelty for all of Austria.
Birgit Brandner-Wallner and Kurt Ostermeier met at Schloss Wallsee during the annual “Winterlust” – a winter Christmas market of the highest class. Birgit Brandner-Wallner’s love for the Danube and the Ostermeier family's wish to create something extraordinary in Austria were the triggers for an innovative Advent market that can be not only visited but experienced with all the senses.
Thus the idea of an Advent market on a festively illuminated ship was born – a place where tradition, romance, and uniqueness come together. And where could this dream come true more beautifully than in Dürnstein, one of the most picturesque places in Austria? “
It should be a market that combines the magic of the Wachau with the special mood of Advent – unique and unforgettable,” says Kurt Ostermeier, organizer of the floating Advent market.
