Hatchling jumping from the roof of our office

Year after year…

...our office of DonauStationen seems to be a favoured shelter for hatchlings. For some years now every spring time some ducks settle down at the roof of our office building. When the time has come to leave the cosy nest the hatchlings have to risk a bold jump from the roof to our balcony. From the balcony – the next clumsy steps – therefore often our help is required - are to get into the fresh water of the Danube nearby where mother duck is full-throatedly calling and waiting for her offsprings.

But this year some baby ducklings were a bit nosy and preferred to visit us in the office before the bath in the Danube.

A duckling chase had to be announced! Finally all baby ducklings found their way -  save and sound - to mother duck in the water ….
