The Danube station is in a central location right next to the tourist information office in the village of Spitz. Located at the heart of the Wachau Region, Spitz is probably the best known wine-growing village with its magnificent vineyards and wine taverns. Spitz was also the location for the film 'Mariandl' with the actress Waltraud Haas.
Motor boat regulations: Docking and taking off while a liner ship is doing it is prohibited! No mooring on the outer water-side pier allowed! Please close accesses after use!

Local area
Tausendeimerberg is a hill that can be seen for miles around. In a good year it is said to be able to produce 1000 buckets of wine. That equates to around 56,000 litres of wine. It makes sense to leave time for a tour of a vineyard and a short rest at one of the numerous local 'Heuriger' wine taverns. We particularly recommend a visit to the Shipping Museum at Schloss Erlahof Palace where the story is told of an industry that was once immensely important and highly respected. The Danube as a transport route has plenty of stories to tell, from the beginnings with rafts and floats to the age of the steamboat.
